Welcome to the second edition of Food For Thought. In the last edition we went on a culinary adventure to the burger restaurant “Burgeramt”. However, it would be unfair to report on only one such restaurant in a city where exquisite burgers can be found around virtually every corner.
Disclaimer: the following article may cause uncontrollable hunger and the compelling desire for burgers.
Name: Rebel Room
Location: Seestrasse 93, 13347 Berlin (Wedding)
Review: Berlin is on the forefront of culinary expertise and experimentation. Rebel Room is a symbol of Berlin’s innovative and vibrant spirit. Although it is no more than a snack restaurant, the tastes that it provides are almost unimaginable. One feels as though the word “burger” cannot possibly capture the truly amazing flavors featured in Rebel Room’s creations. The magnificent meat sandwich is tough to beat. My personal recommendation is the so-known “Rebel burger”, an amazing and lip-smacking meal. With homemade rebel sauce, fresh onions, tomatoes, onions, pickles, red and yellow peppers, cheddar and Gouda cheese, as well as juicy bacon for only 50 extra cents, this burger provides you with a culinary experience like none other. For those of you who love to eat, I suggest you order all the toppings and make a real burger tower.
This overpoweringly palatable burger has a secret sidekick: the twister-fries. These homemade golden spirals were truly made with love (and a grand selection of herbs and spices) and are a must with any order from this restaurant. Another bonus that the Rebel Room offers is their amazingly peachy and comical staff (Insider tip: if you make an effort to be kind to them, they always add just a little bit more to your burger). There is, however, a negative aspect to the Rebel Room. Unfortunately, there is no place to sit inside, and although there are rain covers outside, there is no protection from the miserably cold winters that Berlin is infamous for. Nevertheless, the summer outdoor seating provides an amazing feeling of freedom along with a mouthwatering dish.
